Maurine Wilson
Maurine Rowell Wilson was born on July 16, 1927, in Waverly, Alabama. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Claude “Webb” Rowell.
She departed this life on July 26, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Maurine was a devoted homemaker and exceptional house manager who took great pride in creating a warm and welcoming home for her family. She had a special talent for decorating, both for family celebrations and home design, and faithfully served on several church decorating committees, generously sharing her creativity and gifts with others.
Family was at the heart of Maurine’s life. She cherished hosting Sunday dinners for her children and grandchildren, creating treasured memories around the table. She also loved baking and was especially known for her delicious pound cake, German chocolate cake, and many other homemade treats that brought joy to family and friends.
Maurine also found great joy in gardening and took immense pride in her beautiful yard and flowers. Her home reflected the same love, care, and attention she devoted to her family, creating a place where everyone felt welcome.
Maurine was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, John H. Wilson; her son, Julius Wilson; her sisters, Illena Dalton, Nellie Walton, Catherine Burney, Thula Flemming, Margaret Ross, and Clara Clepper; brothers, Otis and Bunis Rowell and her son-in-law, Kenneth Dix.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory her daughters, Diana Wilson Dix and Sylvia (Ray) Ruff; daughter-in-law, Kuniko; her grandchildren, Margo (Aulden), Angela (Devin), Julia, Kenesha (Dewayne), Jonah (Bethany), Glenn, and Leah; her great-grandchildren, Giselle, Gabby, Giyonah, Londyn, Peyton, Atlas, Kenzo, Mordecai, Ava, Hiro, Kairo, Nori, and Raizo; nieces, Virginia Clepper, Brenda Robinson, Eilleen Singleton and Alice (Grady) Rice; nephew, Johnny (Dreama) other relatives, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Sommerville Funeral Services, 1695 Diagonal Rd. Akron, Oh 44320. Funeral service will immediately follow. Internment Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
